MontanaLibrary2Go is a consortium service that offers circulating downloadable digital e-books and audiobooks to patrons at participating libraries. The service is provided by OverDrive, a digital content distributor, and facilitated through the Montana State Library. Any public, academic, or special library may join the MontanaLibrary2Go consortium. Membership costs are calculated using a cost share formula based on patron count. Please contact Cara Orban for details on how to join MontanaLibrary2Go.
MontanaLibrary2Go offers over 10,000 downloadable e-book and audiobook titles. Titles are available for download in multiple formats to accommodate various devices, including Mp3 players, tablets, and e-readers.
New content is purchased through funding contributed by participating libraries based on a local cost share formula that counts total active patron records in each participating library’s local catalog. Startup costs for new libraries include a pro-rated amount from that fiscal year's cost share formula based on the phase in which the library joins the consortium, and an OverDrive one-time new library participation fee*.
(*LSTA funding may be available through MSL to cover the cost of the new library participation fee.)
New content is added monthly, based on patron requests and selections made on a rotating basis by members of the MontanaLibrary2Go Selection Team. The Selection Committee follows the collection development policy and procedures as approved by the Executive Committee.
Tutorials and technical support information is available on the Library Learning Portal.
